Seven Jubilee Parties
We’ve had a very busy couple of months at our groups celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. One of our parties involved year 2 and 3 children from St Peter’s School, Harrogate who enjoyed learning some of our specially choreographed dances to some songs from the 1950s. They also made up their own choreography to ‘Dancing Queen’ and did a fantastic performance before we sat down for tea and cake.
For the Jubilee we danced to music from the 1950s; we shared memories of the Coronation, meeting the Queen, and 1950s fashion and food; we donned red white and blue outfits, tiaras, crowns and hats, and we waved flags – check out Maria from our Bilton group in her Ginger Spice Union Jack dress; we were entertained by the amazing Misspent Ukes; we ate wonderful food provided by Community Stars Catering Services; we made patriotic cakes (well, volunteer Muriel did, and she made a superb job of it); and the Friday Knaresborough group actually met the Queen – well, a life-size cardboard version of her, kindly provided by group member Anne)…..
