Our local Co-op Member Pioneer – Valentina Hynes – joined us at the Bilton Group Christmas party with her two gorgeous sons. They were an absolute delight …!
The National Lottery Reaching Communities Fund
In June 2022 we heard the brilliant news that Dancing for Well-Being had been awarded 3-year funding from the National Lottery Reaching Communities Fund, starting on 1st October 2022.
During the summer we were able to recruit a highly skilled and committed full-time Manager – Hannah Wood – to lead us and make the most of this exciting opportunity. In addition to day-to-day management tasks Hannah will focus on organisational and business development, establishing a sustainable funding model and plan that enables us to cope with challenges, take advantage of opportunities, and grow.
In the next three years we plan to extend our reach to more people across the Harrogate District. We want to establish new groups for older people, and also run sessions for other people for whom mainstream dance, exercise and social activities are not easily accessible, such as adults coping with mental health issues, chronic pain or long Covid, and learning disabilities. We will spend time building new partnerships and relationships with organisations that already support these people, to co-develop a model that fits their needs and preferences.
The Co-op Local Community Fund
Dancing for Well-Being was selected as one of the Co-op’s local community causes for 2019/20!
Over the year £8527 was raised for Dancing for Well-Being – a tremendous sum! We want to say a HUGE THANK YOU to the Co-op for choosing us as one of Harrogate’s local causes and to all the Co-op members who voted to support us.
Our Hampsthwaite group gave Co-op Manager, Nicola Major, a warm welcome when she visited the group on 11th March 2020. Nicola said “I really enjoyed this morning. It made it come to life actually joining in with you all and seeing how much people enjoy the group and what you do”. Nicola’s dancing was so good we made her an honoroury member! Her tea drinking, biscuit-eating and chatting skills were also very much up to scratch.
The People’s Project 2019
We were delighted to receive a £5,000 award as a runner-up in the 2019 People’s Projects!
The People’s Projects is a partnership between The National Lottery, The National Lottery Community Fund and ITV which gives the public the chance to have a say in how National Lottery funding is spent in their local community.
The National Lottery has shortlisted 5 community organisations in each ITV region, so 95 in total across the UK and everyone at Dancing for Well-Being was delighted to be one of the 5 organisations shortlisted in the ITV Calendar North region.
